Geographical Location- Extreme west Rajasthan including districts of Jaiselmer and Barmer. 25°43'-26°52N, 70°55'-71°25E
Date and History of Establishment- 1979
Area- About 316,200ha
Land Tenure- A number of villages occur inside the park area at present but it is the intention of the government to relocate them outside the park boundary in the course of time.
Altitude- 240m above sealevel.
Physical Features- Flat sandy plain with medium tall dunes.
Vegetation- The sewan grass Lasiurus siindicus is the major plant species with scanty population of Prosopis cineraria trees, Zizyphus nummularia, Capparis decidua shrubs.
Fauna- Blackbuck Antilope cervicapra rajputana, chinkara (mountain gazelle) Gazella gazella, Indian fox Vulpes bengalensis and desert cat Felis libyca. The great Indian bustard Ardeotis nigriceps (E) exists here. In winter houbara Chlamydotis undulata and imperial sandgrouse are found in this region.
